Pull The Trigger - Dreams

March 27th, 2009

with Nana Aba Duncan (2 min)

How long has it been since you touched your guitar?  Are you constantly thinking of writing but never put pen to paper?  Chances are - whether it’s a creative venture or something like starting a school or your own business, you have someTHING some DREAM you’ve wanted to pursue.

It’s time to PULL THE TRIGGER on your dream. Time to DO what you’ve always WANTED to do.

And there’s no need to be scared.  I know how big this is in your head, so we’re whittling it down.  To the FIRST, TINY step.  Now - I’m no Teresa Pavlinek but I’ve always wanted to learn about being funny.  You know what I did this week?  I took five minutes to find out where the nearest improv comedy class was.  I went online and I read about it.  I didn’t sign up, I’m not even committed to taking the classes with that particular group but I’m CLOSER than I’ve ever been before.

That’s how you’re going to pull the trigger on your dream in some way this week.  So, if you’ve been thinking about painting - you don’t have to go out and buy the best brushes and books and paint and all that.  Start small.  Take a sheet from the pad of construction paper in your kids’ room or printer paper and get some dollar store paint and brushes.  Give yourself an hour and just go!  Who cares what it looks like.  Who cares if you end up laughing at yourself.  You’ll feel so much better.

We have to stop making our dreams so BIG and UNATTAINABLE in our brains.  We need to just break it down to the first TINY TINY step.  Either go online, read a brochure or pick up the book you bought back when you were feeling more serious about the dream.  And like always - we wanna know how it works out for you - go to yourrelationshipradio.com and tell us how you PULLED THE TRIGGER on your dream.
