Teresa Pavilnek – Writer and on-air personality
Teresa started her professional career as a member of The Toronto Second City. While still in university Teresa was chosen by the late Tim Sims to join the Second City Touring Company. After a couple of years honing her improv comedy skills Teresa was promoted to the Second City Mainstage where she wrote and performed three ground breaking shows - all nominated for Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
After her departure from Second City, Teresa went on to write a one-woman show, Dumplings And Death. It had successful runs at The Toronto Fringe Festival, Tallulah's Cabaret and at The New York International Fringe Festival.
Teresa performs her unique brand of character based comedy throughout Canada. She was chosen to perform in L.A. and New York as part of the Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival. Teresa was the only Toronto participant in the festival, which also included comedians such as Janeane Garofalo and Phyllis Diller.
Her television credits include co-host of The Canadian Comedy Network launch, lead roles in CBC’s, THE NINE O'CLOCK SHOW, WTN's, GO GIRL, CTV’s SONIC TEMPLE and THE SEAN CULLEN SHOW. She has also made guest appearances in several series including More Tears, Liocracy, Jimmy MacDonald’s Canada, The Rick Mercer Report and Sue Thomas F.B.I. Teresa was nominated for a Gemini for her work on the History Channel/PBS series, HISTORY BITES and was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for best improviser.
Teresa wrote and starred in her own special, As I Was Saying, for the Comedy Network. The Jane Show, which she co-wrote, produced and starred in aired on Global Television and is currently on the W Network. She is nominated for a Gemini for her performance in the show as well as a Writer’s Guild Award for an episode she wrote.
Teresa joined forces with Jayne Eastwood, Deb McGrath, Kathryn Greenwood and Robin Duke to form Women Fully Clothed, an all female sketch troupe that has been selling out all over Ontario, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is currently touring Canada.
